KWIKOM Fiber Construction

Building Your Connection to the Future

Connecting Communities with KWIKOM Fiber

At KWIKOM, our mission is to connect communities with the fastest, most reliable fiber optic internet. We understand that the construction process can be inconvenient, but our priority is to minimize disruption and ensure your community is left in excellent condition. This page will guide you through what to expect during construction, our commitment to restoration, and how you can help us keep the process smooth by reporting any issues directly to us.

What to Expect During Construction

Our construction process is designed to be thorough and efficient, ensuring that your connection is strong and your community is well cared for. Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Planning and Permitting: Initial surveys and securing necessary permits with your local officials.
  2. Underground Work: Laying fiber cables beneath the ground, which may involve trenching or boring.
  3. Installation: Bringing the fiber connection from the street right to your home.
  4. Restoration: Once construction is complete, we restore any affected areas, including reseeding lawns and ensuring that all property is returned to its original condition.

Throughout these phases, we strive to keep you informed and minimize any disruption to your daily life. Read more about how we “Install Fiber Internet with Care” in our blog article here!

See Something? Say Something.

We value your feedback and want to address any concerns as quickly as possible. If you see an issue with our construction—whether it’s a mess that needs cleaning up or something that doesn’t look right—please let us know right away. Your direct input helps us ensure the quality of our work and keeps the process smooth for everyone involved.

Our Commitment to Post-Construction Restoration

At KWIKOM, we don’t just install fiber—we make sure your property is restored to its original state. We know how important the appearance of your lawn and landscaping is, and our team is dedicated to returning any disturbed areas to their prior condition. After construction, we take the following steps to ensure everything is as it should be:

  • Reseeding Grass: Any affected lawn areas are reseeded to encourage healthy regrowth. Hay may be used as a cover to protect the seeds from any weather that may prevent proper growth!
  • Covering Trenches: Open trenches or disturbed soil are carefully filled, leveled, and covered, blending seamlessly with the surrounding area. If you notice an unmarked or uncovered area, please reach out to us directly so we can address it with our construction teams as quickly as possible!

Frequently Asked Questions

Fiber optic construction involves laying specialized cables that transmit data using light, which allows for much faster internet speeds compared to traditional copper cables. This construction is necessary to bring high-speed, reliable internet to your community, enabling better streaming, gaming, remote work, and more. The process includes planning, trenching, and installation of these cables underground, ensuring your connection is future-proof.

KWIKOM is committed to keeping you informed every step of the way. We provide notifications through multiple channels, including mailed notices, door hangers and email. These notifications will outline the schedule, the areas affected, and what to expect during each phase of construction.

Yes, construction may temporarily affect your property within the 11’ right of way easement from the back side of the street curb as allowed by federal regulations, particularly if fiber lines need to be laid in your yard. KWIKOM takes great care to minimize the impact. We will restore any disturbed areas to their original condition, including reseeding lawns, repairing sidewalks, and cleaning up any debris. Our goal is to leave your property looking as good as or better than before we began.

Safety is our top priority. KWIKOM ensures that all work is done in compliance with local regulations and safety standards. Our construction crews are trained professionals who respect your property and privacy. We also secure any open trenches or equipment at the end of each workday to prevent accidents.

The timeline for construction can vary depending on the size and complexity of the project in your area. Typically, the construction in a specific neighborhood lasts a few weeks. However, the actual time spent on your property may be much shorter. KWIKOM will keep you updated on the progress and provide an estimated timeline specific to your location.

KWIKOM takes every precaution to prevent damage during construction. Before we begin, Kansas 811 will mark all utility-owned lines, such as water, gas, telephone, and electricity. However, marking any privately installed underground lines—such as sprinkler systems, invisible dog fences, or wires to yard lights—is the responsibility of the homeowner.

We’ll notify you in advance with a door hanger, reminding you to identify and flag these private lines before our technicians arrive. Ensuring these lines are marked is essential to avoid potential damage during the construction process.

If your property does incur any construction-related damage beyond the scope of private lines, we’re here to help. Please contact us through the “Construction” department on our ‘Contact Us’ page, and our construction manager will work with you to resolve any issues.

If you see something concerning or have any issues with the construction process, please contact us directly as soon as possible. KWIKOM is dedicated to addressing concerns quickly to minimize disruption and ensure your satisfaction. You can reach us via phone, email, or through our Contact Us page using the ‘Construction’ department, which is monitored regularly for prompt responses.

No, your existing internet and other utilities should not be disrupted during fiber optic construction. KWIKOM works carefully to avoid interfering with current services. If any service interruptions are necessary, they will be minimal, and we will notify you in advance.

After the construction phase is complete, KWIKOM conducts a thorough inspection to ensure everything is in order. We will then begin the process of restoring any affected areas, including reseeding grass and repairing any disturbed surfaces. Once restoration is complete, you will receive a notice informing you of the availability of fiber services in your area.

Once construction is complete and your area has been tested, you will be notified that fiber internet is available for installation at your home. You can then schedule an installation appointment at your convenience. Our team will set up your connection and ensure everything is working perfectly before we leave.
